Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Saxon Wood School

At Saxon Wood School, the health, safety and well-being of every child is our top priority. We expect all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment to safeguarding our pupils.

We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. All school staff are trained in Child Protection, and children are made aware of the adults they can talk to, where relevant, if they have any concerns.

Staff are trained to look out for signs of physical/emotional harm or neglect and are required to report these to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

Saxon Wood Safeguarding Team

Designated Safeguarding Lead:

  • Mrs Jakki Alexander (Headteacher)

Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads:

  • Miss Laura Burling (Assistant Headteacher)

Designated Teacher for Looked After Children (LAC):

  • Miss Laura Burling (Assistant Headteacher)

The school will, in most circumstances, endeavour to discuss all concerns with parents about their children. However, there may be exceptional circumstances when the school will discuss concerns with Social Care and/or the Police without parental knowledge (in accordance with Child Protection procedures). The school will, of course, always aim to maintain a positive relationship with all parents.

If you are concerned about the safety of a child, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of our safeguarding team.

Alternatively, you can contact the Children’s Services (The Children’s Reception Team) on 0300 555 1384

We follow advice from the Hampshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP) and the procedures which we follow are outlined in our Child Protection Policy and our Safeguarding Policy, which can be found on our school website.
