Developing the grounds at Saxon Wood School… Some exciting updates

The external grounds at Saxon Wood have been revamped!

  • The pond area has been adapted to make it a much more purposeful area for science lessons.

  • We now have a beautiful, covered area in our sensory garden: an ideal space to listen to stories and carry out some outdoor learning.

  • There are vertical mark making boards on some of the fences, for children to draw, paint, make mark, the list of opportunities is endless.

  • One of the huts has been replaced with a role play area, which can be adapted into a cafe, a shop, an area for performing, making this adaptable to link in with topics and learning.

  • Mirrors have been installed for the children to see their own unique selves in too.

  • Vegetable troughs which are accessible by our wheelchair users have been added and we aim to grow some lovely vegetables to feel, smell and possibly taste.
