Oak and Cherry Class have had a wonderful time learning about

Dia de los Muertos.

Special clothes were worn and hair was dressed in elaborate styles to celebrate the festival at school.

Their Expressive Arts and Design theme continued with collage materials to create their own Calaveras (the brightly decorated skulls for which the day is best known).

The children explored different mediums and materials and used all their communication skills to follow instructions as to how to apply them, and to let the grownups know what they thought of the different sights and textures.

A special sensory story was used to help the children with their learning.
They tasted Pan de Muertos and Agua de Jamaica (a special sweet bread and drink,) helped to create an Ofrenda.

The children enjoyed listening to Mexican music as part of the celebrations too.
