The Great Saxon Wood Bake Off for Children in Need
Friday 18th November 2022
To raise money for Children in Need this year, the children at Saxon Wood School came into school in their pyjamas and have spent the day cooking up some treats ready for The Great Saxon Wood Bake Off with special guest judge Jakki Alexander.
Up in Hedgehog class the children were busy making fruity pizza's which allowed them to get really creative in how they were decorated and biscuits which took lots of precision and accuracy to get the measurements correct - Well Done Hedgehog class!
The children in Badger and Rabbit class made some Oreo brownies and fruity kebabs. This was a great opportunity to practise their knife skills and making choices of what they wanted to put on their kebabs. They looked really delicious.
In Squirrel class the children made some really yummy rice crispy cakes that they decorated with white chocolate and smarties, just like Pudsey's spotty bandana! The children engoyed mixing and decorating the cakes with the smarties.
And in Dormouse class the children made rocky road where they selected all the different ingredients to add to their yummy treat.
The afternoon was competition time and the whole school gathered in the hall and we watched in anticipation as our Judge, Jakki tasted all of the children's fabulous sweet treats. It was a really hard decision for Jakki as she thought they were all so brilliant, but she particularly enjoyed the fruity and sweet combination of the fruit kebabs and so Badger and Rabbit Class walked away with the prize and the title of 'Star Bakers'. Well done Bager & Rabbit Class!
After the Bake Off, some of the children performed in a talent show. We saw the most beautiful singing, some amazing dance moves and the funniest of jokes. After the individual talents were showcased we finished off our day with a great big Saxon Wood dance off and everyone joined in listening and moving to the music.
What a wonderful day enjoyed by all at Saxon Wood School!
